Lauren Wantroba 

a.s. team and tumble coach

Lauren has 20+ years in competitive cheerleading. She’s been coaching for 8+ years for multiple programs throughout the Midwest.  Her background also involves many years in power tumbling. Lauren attended Cheerleading Worlds 6 times from 2006-2011 at Walt Disney World in Orlando Florida. Of the 6 times, one was a full paid bid, and 2 partial paid bids, finishing in the top tier of all teams nationally within the industry. She has won numerous National Championships as a competitive cheerleader within the industry. While attending Grand Valley State University she competed for 3 years on the All Girl team. During those 3 years she attended The NCA Collegiate Nationals 3 times finishing as finalists all 3 years. Lauren graduated form GVSU in 2016 with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing & Management. During 2016 – 2017 she directed a cheer program competing at multiple National competitions, before starting here at Cheer Company of Michigan. Lauren is great with athletes from all ages, backgrounds and various skill levels. She prides herself in her extreme knowledge as a coach in this industry. We are excited for Lauren to be apart of our program for the 2017-2018 competitive season. 

Caitlin Cowdrey

Half year team and tumble coach

Caitlin graduated from Sparta High School and Kent Career Technical Center where she studied marketing in 2016. While Caitlin was at Sparta she she played softball, basketball, ran track, and was a cheerleader. Caitlin cheered at Cheer Company of Michigan from 2014-2016 and received multiple US Finals and D2 Summit bids (full paid and at large). Caitlin and her teams won US Finals twice and won D2 Summit her senior year of High School. During Caitlin's 2 years at Cheer Company of Michigan she became a 12 time National Champion. She currently attends Davenport University and is pursuing a degree in Marketing. Caitlin received a scholarship from Davenport to be on their NCA and STUNT teams while working to get her degree. Caitlin was an honors student in High School and is maintaining a high morale with her studies in college. Her freshman year in college she attended Grand Valley State University where she began studying Marketing and took 2nd at NCA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. Caitlin also works as a Sports Marketing assistant at Davenport University and has been apart of the Cheer Co. coaching staff since 2014.

Kendra Hawley

Half year team and tumble coach

Kendra graduated from Sparta High School with honors in 2016. While at Sparta she cheered on Varsity and received 1st team all conference and all district honors for both years while on the team. Kendra cheered at Cheer Company of Michigan from 2014-2017 and received several bids for US Finals and Summit (Paid and at large). She won US Finals twice, and the d2 Summit her senior year of High School. She also has won 12 National Cheerleading titles. She currently attends Davenport University and Kuyper College and is pursuing a double Bachelor's degree in Applied Science and Social Work. She received a cheerleading scholarship at DU and is currently on the competitive team as well as performing in the STUNT division and sideline last season. Kendra has received several other academic scholarships, at Davenport she was on the Deans list and Presidents list hger first semester. Her first season on the DU cheer team she placed 3rd at the 1st inaugural NAIA Nationals. She also currently is apart of the 2017 D2 STUNT National championship team. Kendra also is apart of the HERO mentoring program at DU, she has been on the Cheer Co. staff since 2014. 

BreLeigh Adams

half year team and tumble coach

BreLeigh is currently on her second year as a Davenport University Cheerleader and the NCA All American Team, this is her 18th season as a competitive cheerleader. During her long cheerleading career she has won 9 California State Championships and placed in the top ten at UCA National 12 times. She was honored to compete at Worlds twice, receiving a partial paid bid and a full paid bid. She was recruited in her Junior year of high school and signed with Davenport University receiving a college scholarship. There she has received three NCA national champion titles and three college STUNT champion titles. BreLeigh has been apart of 6 All Star Cheer Teams, competing in levels 2,3,4, and 5. She has worked with younger cheerleaders at HSC All Stars and Pacific Coast Magic, helping with choreography and stunting. BreLeigh helped her High School Cheer team run and work a summer cheerleading camp for three years. She has competed on High School, All Star, and Collegiate for both UCA and NCA. She has traveled the United States the last three summers coaching for NCA Speed Staff, where she was nominated for Top Rookie. BreLeigh was born and raised in California and is in Michigan to get a degree in laboratory science. 

Corey Eversman

Coach Cory has 7 years of coaching experience throughout various sports such as martial arts as well as 5 years in the competitive all-star cheer industry.  He is a certified instructor in self defense and United States All Star Federation levels 1 and 2 certified. Throughout high school at Wayland he played football and wrestled achieving his Varsity letters. After graduating from Wayland High School he moved to Texas to gain independence and then found himself in Colorado a year later from alternative opportunities. After teaching martial arts in a  sports complex combined with gymnastics and cheerleading, coaches recruited him to learn co-ed stunting and to assist with prep cheerleading teams from his experience as an athletics coach. Cory fell in love with the sport of all-star cheerleading and has been educating himself in the industry ever since. A few years after coaching in Colorado Cory began to miss his family and decided he needed to move back home to the mitten. Cory was recruited by Laura as an all-star cheerleading and tumbling coach. Last year was his first time taking teams he had coached all the way to the Summit and US Finals floor on at-large and paid bids. In 2016-2017 season Cory led multiple teams to first places, national championships winning Jackets and rings. His biggest accomplishment is leading his Senior level 2 team Wicked to a Summit victory.

Will Derusha

a.s. team and tumble Coach

Will gained his experience from many years of competitive dance, gymnastics and all-star cheerleading. Will also has sideline cheer experience from Kenowa Hills High School. He attended Grand Valley State University where he was a member of the GVSU co-ed cheerleading team. Other experience is CMU Cheer, Michigan Extreme (premier athletics) and Cheer Evo international open cheerleading team. Will is currently a coach and choreographer for cheerleading and dance teams throughout west Michigan. He started coaching with Cheer Company of Michigan in 2015. Will has a Bachelors in Advertising and Public Relations from GVSU. He currently works as a digital marketing specialist for a top multi-level marketing company in the Grand Rapids area.

Susan Colbeck

Susan is a 1981 Dance and education graduate of Texas State University. She is a former member of the world renowned precision  dance team “Texas State Strutters” where she was a member for 4 years  and held the position of Lieutenant her senior year. She is Certified All level Dance Education, Physical Education and Health Education in Texas as well as Michigan and has taught school for over 15 years. She has coached junior high volleyball and basketball with undefeated seasons in the Catholic Archdiocese of Houston-Galveston.  Susan works for Cisco Enterprise Services as a Senior TI Project Manager and holds certifications in ITIL and Project Management Professional for 15 years. Susan has a long history in the competitive sport arena starting with her daughter’s 12 years of competitive dance in Rochester Hills Michigan at Deborah’s Stage Door and Elite Cheer for 6 years before opening “Capital Cheer” in Lansing with her daughter Carla in 2005. She followed Laura to open up Cheer Company of Michigan in 2014 and has been coaching along side and running the gym ever since.  Susan is a breast cancer survivor and prides herself in organizing/participating in Breast Cancer charity fundraisers with help of her cheerleaders throughout Michigan since 2008.

Tracy Lively

half year team and tumble coach

Tracy was a CCM cheerleader from 2012-2014. While cheering for CCM under the coaching of Laura Chapman she has received three full paid bids throughout her CCM experience to the US Finals. Along with her paid bids came six Grand Champion Titles at various competitions. Tracy competed and won two National Championship titles at the US Finals in Indiana and Virginia Beach in the 2013-2014 cheer season. Other highlights of Tracy's cheerleading career were winning Jamfest Super Nationals in 2014, and receiving a cheerleading scholarship to Davenport University her senior year of high school. Tracy now has received her associates in applied science in paralegal studies. She is now attending Western Michigan University to achieve her bachelor’s in political science: public law with a minor in sociology. Tracy has been coaching along side of Laura since CCM Grand Rapid's doors opened in 2014. Tracy enjoys coaching not only teams, but tumbling classes as well. 

Joshua Chapman

Co-Owner/ office manager

Joshua Chapman is the logistics of Cheer Co. He is a graduate of Siena Heights University for his BA in multidisciplinary studies. Josh is a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, he was an active duty Marine for eight years and is currently in the reserves stationed in Hawaii. He continuously uses his education from his military background to keep Cheer Company conditioned, poised, polished and structured. His all star cheerleading experience began in 2007 when he met Laura at the cheer for charity toys for tots exhibition event. Joshua was the Marine leading the charity event, and Laura was organizing the charity cheerleading performances. Joshua then started his work with CCM ever since. The couple takes pride in still raising toys yearly doing a cheerleading showcase to collect toys for the USMC's toys for tots. Josh propose to Laura at a cheerleading competition awards ceremony with the help of the athletes in 2014, and they got married on June 20th 2015. They have two twin Daughters Lahna and Paisley. Any questions on billing, payments, forms etc. Josh is your guy! 

Laura Chapman


​Laura graduated from Siena Heights University in 2012 with a BA in Integrated studies emphasis in Science, Elementary Education/Early childhood development. Upon her education she received academic scholarships, and made the deans list at Siena Heights. She began her coaching career at the first All Star cheerleading gym in Michigan, Elite Cheer in 2005 where she lead teams to national cheerleading titles. Laura was an all-star cheerleader at Elite Cheer Michigan for six years, she danced competitively at Deborah's Stage Door Dance Center for seven years and was a gymnast at Gymnastics Training Center for four years. Laura began coaching and managing Capital Cheer (owned by her sister) in 2008 during her college years. She head coached every team leading them to multiple national titles and first place wins from 2008-2014. Laura then moved to Grand Rapids to open an affiliated sister program Cheer Company of Michigan. Capital Cheer was sold in 2014 and is no longer affiliated with Cheer Company of Michigan. From the 2014 opening until present, Laura has head coached every team in the Grand Rapids program leading them to multiple victories and national titles. Laura is United States All- Star Federation certified in levels 1-6, AACCA, First Aid/ CPR, All-star judging certified, and State of Michigan Concussion certified. All choreography is done in house by Laura. On her off time Laura also judges around the country with Varsity brand competitions, and is a mother to her 1 year old twin daughters. Her greatest accomplishment as a coach is leading multiple teams to the US Finals, the D2 Summit, Summit, as well as leading them to Victory in 2016 and 2017. Any questions please contact her at

Staff members and coaches

All Cheer Company coaches are from an All-Star cheerleading background as a former athlete, coach or both. Cheer Co. is proud to also have the experience of 4 All Star Cheerleading judges affiliated with their program to help give Cheer Co. the competitive edge, consulting and drive that makes our program stand out amongst the rest. All Cheer Co. staff members are at least 19 years of age, background checked, and approved as coaches through the United States All Star Federation. 95% of CCM staff has a bachelors degree or working towards their bachelors degree. All Cheer Co. staff members are recruited as coaches based on their years of experience and backgrounds in this industry.
